Crack identification in beam-like structures using cuckoo optimization algorithm

To identify cracks in a structure, an inverse analysis has been performed using the static and dynamic response of structure. The accuracy is highly dependent on form objective function choice optimization method. Generally, method searching solution by gradient adopted. However, for crack problem interested this study, it known to have drawback that search strongly depends initial value setting. biomimetics-based cuckoo algorithm (COA) can overcome drawback. few examples identifying depth location structure are available. In determining beam-like structures COA was developed. size were identified COA. transfer matrix (TMM) utilized numerically calculate deformation rotation angle beams, which required analysis. For purpose, fundamental theory extended cracked element. Consequently, confirmed depth, location, magnitude applied load be predicted developed with good accuracy.
